ASL (American Sign Language) Class

Ages 8-18

ASL – Communicate, Connect, and Create

In this unique and engaging class, students will explore American Sign Language (ASL) as both a language and an expressive theatrical tool. As part of our commitment to creating inclusive, meaningful performances, students will learn to integrate ASL into their work on stage, enhancing storytelling, character development, and ensemble communication.

Throughout the course, students will build a foundation in ASL vocabulary, fingerspelling, and conversational skills, while also applying what they learn directly to performance projects. These may include signed musical numbers, ASL storytelling pieces, or ensemble scenes that blend voice and sign.

Students will:
*Learn to use ASL expressively in scripted and musical scenes
*Develop fluency in the ASL alphabet and essential signs
*Explore how sign language enriches communication, accessibility, and artistry

Whether a student is new to ASL or eager to deepen their skills, this class will inspire them to expand their expressive toolbox, and create performances that speak to all audiences.
